Her work has progressed over the years and while I haven't finished A Case for God, what I find in her works is a quest for faith.

Her RC roots probably is the cause for the lack of Reformation theology that seems to consume us Prots.

I heard her speak a few years ago and in Spiral Staircase she reveals in her discussions as much about her own understanding what what is relationship with God and what is the aquisition of historical developments that have been formed into to dogmatic statements.

I am facinated by her as a person who took on this mountain of historical and theological research that has produced such a clear historical chain of events under the heading of "understanding seeking faith."

She is a compassionate woman who has tried to find in history the roots of the conflicts of faith in the Middle East and which threatens to consume the world. Her recent work to bring understanding to the political events of our own time with respect and by honoring the religious traditions of us all is a body of work that probably is as important as this present work. But if we can begin to see the parallels in the different faiths of the world, we perhaps can open ourselves to having some compassion for the faiths of other peoples. The key to global peace.Muthah+https://www.blogger.com/profile/10589837671378205837noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14710344.post-33291944972126887212010-07-06T09:21:36.569-04:002010-07-06T09:21:36.569-04:00Excellent review, Scott. I look forward to reading this book too.Terrihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15667178624061122421noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14710344.post-43822248814483401612010-07-05T12:31:41.842-04:002010-07-05T12:31:41.842-04:00Thanks for this!
