Friday Five: Yuletide Favorites

For this mid-December Friday Five, let's explore some Yuletide favorites.

1) It's a Wonderful Life--Is it? Do you remember seeing it for the first time?

2) Miracle on 34th Street--old version or new?

3) Do you have a favorite incarnation of Mr. Scrooge?

4) Why should it be a problem for an elf to be a dentist? I've been watching Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer for years now, and I still don't get it.

5) Who's the scariest character in Christmas specials/movies?

Please leave a comment if you play on your blog. A visit from St. Nicholas is assured to all who link directly:

  1. I am preaching sunday using the movie "Its a Wonderful Life". Can't do the Friday Five yet. I am going on a field trip with the girls to see "Charlotte's Web" this morning. Not sure how this is going to work, because all the kindergartens around this area are going to be there.

But this is a great Friday Five

  2. I played a 'slightly' abbreviated version over at preacher, blogger or procrastinator.

I am so sorry for being a slacker, but I think if you look at the countdown on the side of my blog you will understand why...

    GREAT questions!

  9. Yeah, I'm wondering if it's a good thing or a bad thing.
If I were to lead with "A Christmas Carol," people who know my kids and I have been in various productions might well have pegged me.
    I played over here.

  10. HA! Victory! Persistence is the mother of necessity or some such murdered quotation...

My post, lacking with enthusiasm is here! To redeem myself, I posted a different five-some here!

Not overachieving, just feeling guilty that I don't like "It's a Wonderful Life" that much...

  11. I played here. Don't worry about not liking "It's A Wonderful Life," Deb - I've never even SEEN the movie. How terrible am I?

  13. I played! And I LOVE LOVE It's a Wonderful Life!
    I cry every time.

Even last year when they had a 24-hr. marathon of it. We'd had our Christmas early, so on Dec. 25th I was napping in my recliner with a pot of tea and two snuggly dogs.

Periodically I would wake for different parts of the movie...aaah. What a day. :)

  16. I played, but I feel like the Grinch. I mean, who isn't interested in in Jimmy Stewart or Santa Claus? And viva la Elf Liberation Front!

  20. I've posted my answers in a really long post. They aren't very enlightening, as I haven't seen most of the movies...

  21. Oh yeah, I'm playing this and giving it the ol' college try. However, I changed some of the questions just because I wanted to.

I have a few loyal folks who will come and visit even the most lame of replies. Won't you be one of them? Check it out here and find out a great Christmas movie not many know about!

  22. I finally played the Friday Five Game!

  23. I played, and blathered a bit about our favorite and not so favorite Yuletide shows, movies, etc.

  24. I have to say it TOTALLY Has to be the Muppet Christmas Carol. (I cry every year when Beaker gives Michael Caine his scarf!) My god-daughter used to be terrified of Marley & Marley in that too!

OUr family also watches an obscure made for TV thing called "Bernard and the Genie" featuring Lenny Henry and Alan Cumming with cameos by Bob Geldof, Melvyn Bragg, and a wonderfully evil Rowan Atkinson!
