Friday Five: The Water and the Word

In this Sunday's gospel Nicodemus asks Jesus, "How can anyone be born after having grown old? Can one enter a second time into the mother's womb and be born?" Poor old Nicodemus! He was so confused about the whole "water and Spirit" business of baptism.

For today's five, tell us about your baptismal experiences.
  1. When and where were you baptized? Do you remember it? Know any interesting tidbits?
  2. What's the most unexpected thing you've ever witnessed at a baptism?
  3. Does your congregation have any special traditions surrounding baptisms?
  4. Are you a godparent or baptismal sponsor? Have a story to tell?
  5. Do you have a favorite baptismal song or hymn?
As always, let us know if you've played! The magic code is: what you want the link to say goes here

  31. So, today I read all the posts, and commented on nearly all. I couldn't comment on Gord's and a couple of others because Blogger did that weird thing (or Firefox, I don't know who to blame) where the comment window is unmaximizable. I can deal with that if there's no verification gibberish, but when there is, I just can't comment. If anyone knows why this happens let me know. I am struck by how different and how similar we are, all at once!

  32. This is a good topic right now. It helps remember water is there even in the deserts of lent.

It's all a part of the transformation. So... I went under here.

  33. Bringing up the rear, as usual, but I finally played.

  34. I know, I know...it's nearly Sunday but I couldn't resist this, what with the prospect of baptising two sets of twins tomorrow...so I've just played
