Adding html code to Blogger

First, let me say that if I can learn to do this, anyone can.

Here goes.

Sign in to your blogger account and click on your blog name. You should see the page that offers you a chance to edit previous posts. Above there are several tabs. Click on "Template."

On the Template page, you will see a box full of code that makes your blog look the way it looks.

Scroll down slowly; look for
Begin sidebar

(It's going to have arrows and lines around it.)

Below that you'll find all the things that are in your sidebar (your profile, previous posts, blogroll, links).

At the end of the sidebar material you will see
End sidebar

You want to cut and paste the webring html somewhere within those two. Probably the easiest way to do this is to find "End Sidebar" and then use the mouse to locate your cursor just above it. Have the html ready; it should be in an e-mail you received. Highlight it, then use Control-C to copy it. Now locate your cursor in the Template box and use Control-V to paste the html.

Beneath the template box are several buttons. Click on "Preview." A preview of your blog will open in a new window. If the Web Ring is in your sidebar, you are all set! Go back to the template page and click on "Save Template Changes." If not, click on "Clear Edits" and ask a teenager to help you! No, seriously, if that doesn't work, e-mail the ring address (revgalblogpals@hotmail.com) or e-mail me.

  1. Thanks, Songbird. It worked, even for web-illiterate me. Hard to believe I used to be systems analyst. Technology has passed me by!

  2. Great directions. Pretty soon every teenager's mother and grandmother will have a blog on this webring thanks to you!
