Hogwarts Churches

Rebel continues the homage to Harry Potter in a very creative post here. Don't miss it!

UPDATE: I fixed the link. Just realized that somehow microsoft.com hijacked it. That's odd because I wrote this on a Mac. Maybe it isn't odd?

  2. So did we.

Some quibbles, mainly coming from having SO MUCH to do in a single movie. But very well done.

  3. rm, since I read it in June of 2003 (and I'm much older than you are), I didn't remember the details well enough to be disturbed by omissions. Maybe having a brain full of oldness isn't such a bad thing after all?

  4. I never expect a movie to be as good as the book. Especially when the book is longer, it is almost impossible to include everything (after all, look at the details they left out of Azkaban, which was shorter). What is problematic is when they leave out details that are important to the continuing plot/character development.

And don't get me started about some of the things Jackson did to the characters in LOTR...

  5. You mean the Scouring of Faramir?

  6. THat was the worst although Elrond, Aragorn, and Saruman were changed too (moreso the first 2). And then of course there was the whole Arwen as a major character thing, and that insane dream sequence in the battle for Rohan, and...

I became less impressed with the movies as each one came out. But they were still WAAAAAAY better than the animated monstrosity that my dad and I went to back when we first read the books (ca. 1979/80)
