Wednesday Round-Up - Part 2

Happy(?) "Day of Ashes," y'all! My little, conservative & evangelical church had a grand time last evening celebrating Shrove Tuesday/Marti Gras with a pancake dinner and carnival (complete with beads!). Tonight, we're observing the beginning of Lent with the imposition of ashes. At least this year I haven't heard, "But we've never done it that way before!"
On to the round-up:
revem blogs on fund-raising and what to do when there is not enough funds to go around.

Dream on with zinnhead and Lutheran Flavor.
Quite of few RevGalPal Bloggers have posted thought-provoking and insightful meditations and comments on Ash Wednesday and beginning of the Lenten Season. Check them out: Sister Steph, Remembering the Alabaster Jar, and The Big Dunk .
Lots of insightful Lenten prayers, too: Lenten Prayers, The Tent Maker, and See Through Faith.
Here come the Quizzillas! Take the "Which Saint are You?" quizzilla with PamBG. You go, Julian! And how about "Which American City are You?" with Natty at Where to Now God?. "Which Muppet are You? can be seen over at RevHRod's Place.
Hasidic reggae - You.have.got.to.be.kidding.me. Look over at Philosophy Over Coffee . I did like the interesting take on Apostle Paul, though.

Ann at What is Your Only Comfort reminds us to celebrate the induction of the first woman - Effa Manely - to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY.

Songbird is getting really creative with "Life-times Liturgies!" Some of our best inspirations come out of our frustrations! Que nes pas? (Translation: Ain't that the truth?!" )

And then there is the creative sharing of the RCL for Lent 1 as seen atReverend Mommy's place , and Joel's .

Stacey gives a moment of self-disclosure. We've all been there, love! And BTW, our grandson's nursey is decorated in a fishy/aquarium theme, compliments of our SiL's veterinary specialty.

St. Casserole reminds us that March is "Wear More Jewelry Month" and then takes all the fun away. Loved the comic, BTW!

Welcome home from vacation, Lorna!

And speaking of vacations, I've been keeping up with Rev. Amy as she travels back to familiar places that are not as they once were. Bring along some tissues! And while you've got the Kleenex close by, check out Quotidian Grace's poignant tribute to her mother. Good stuff! QC, that awesome pie at Grace Happens is your typical, run-of-the-mill, ordinary (quotidian?) apple pie that just happened to come out really nice! Made with Granny Smiths.

Finally, Mary Beth adds a gentle admonition: Lent is NOT Easter! No cross, no crown. No suffering, no glory. Thanks for that reminder! Gotta go through Lent to get to Easter. No other way 'round it.

Peace, everyone!

  1. Thanks, Shielded! May God's love cover T! What a good friend you are to ask for prayers on his behalf and to bless him on his journey!

Lent is not for the faint-of heart! Be blessed, friend!

  3. Hey Lorna,
I cant open the links either - hmmm.

  4. net, there seems to be an unnecessary "+" in each of the links. I think I have fixed them all, but let's check in about the process for doing the links and see if I can help you figure out what happened. Thanks for the great roundup!

  5. It looks like a character (+) was added to all of the links. I am not sure why that is. Unfortunately I am not up high enough on the matriarch chart to get in there and fix them.

  7. YOU CAN GO BACK IN TIME!!!

Might I humbly suggest using that power for something other than making me look needlessly repetitive in the comments section of our community blog.

  9. Net, you shouldn't have to type in each and every link.

Might I humbly suggest having two pages open. One is open to the post you are creating and the other is open to the various websites you are visiting.

When you want to post a link you go to that site in your one window and copy the html address. Then pop over to the other window (your blogger post) and paste the address into the little box that blogger provides (it's the button that looks like the earth).

Maybe someone else has an even easier way... anyone?

  10. will smama,
THat is how I do almost any post where I include a link. I can never remember the actual HTML to do it without the shortcut.
