friday five: pet peeve edition

Reverendmother here with another edition of the Friday Five...

As I shared recently at my place, I am enamored of a newly-acquired treasure, the Illustrated Elements of Style by Strunk and White. It's also awakened the pinched, surly old grammarian in me. I have a few grammatical pet peeves, which I will get into on my blog, but in the meantime, I'm wondering about your pet peeves. Here's your chance to vent, gripe, and grumble to your heart's content. Go ahead, it's therapeutic.

1. Grammatical pet peeve

2. Household pet peeve

3. Arts & Entertainment pet peeve (movie theaters, restaurants, concerts)

4. Liturgical pet peeve

5. Wild card--pet peeve that doesn't fit any of the above categories

Bonus: Because all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God: What do YOU do that others might consider a pet peeve?

Please let us know if you play, and provide a link if you don't mind. I'd love to visit, but having to click on your profile and then your blog is one of my pet peeves. [wink]

Ok, who keeps on playing with the templates - they are having too much fun - I like this one --I want to learn to do this!

Going to post my pet peeves tonight, so count me in!

People who post their blog responsibility before their assigned day. WAY too organized...

lol.

People who post something obnoxious - albeit teasing - anonymously... sorry, that was me.

People who make 3 out of the first four comments...

Very punchy. Going to bed.

So I'm a little early. Hope that's not a pet peeve of yours... Here ya go. Oh, is saying 'ya' a grammatical pet peeve of yours? Sorry 'bout that.

Well, I had to add to my comments - and I forgot to do the bonus... imagine me having a pet peeve that drives others crazy.

My pet peeve is Friday posts with a Thursday date, so I changed the publishing time to Friday. reverendmother was actually even earlier than it now seems!
(Mostly I'm here checking out the linkmaking situation.)

Here's how you do a link:
Blog Title
Bear in mind that if you click someone's link while you're still in the pop-up comment box, the link will open in that box.

Songbird said...

Crud.
That did not work. And now I remember it did not work the last time I tried to do it. Here's a link to Blogger's link-making instructions, which is probably exactly what I resorted to last time.

Marie said...

Okay, I played, but I have no confidence in my ability to leave a link here.

Frickin' Blogger! My fourth attempt...

Dangit, Blogger keeps flaking out on me. Here's what I've tried to comment three times:

Thanks for changing the date, Songbird!

And here's mine.

Also, to make a link, copy the URL of your post, then type this in the comment:

[a href=paste-the-url-here] I played! Or whatever you want the link to look like [/a]

The only difference is that the brackets should be <> instead.

You can copy the above and keep it somewhere handy on your desktop so you don't have to type it every time.

Blast.
Let's try again, using periods instead of commas in the URL...

This ought to work...

Let me try that again.

I played here.

Hey, I thought of another one. Maybe all of you great preachers do not have this problem, but I cannot stand when people in the pews give a huge, uncovered yawn.

Rude. Gross.

Dealing with blogger. Pet peeve. Or is that primary frustration?

I sort of played. In a desultory "I wanna be at home and not at the hospital" kind of way.

I think I am too dumb for this html business. That's why I use blogger in the first place. This is my last try, and if it doesn't work, just copy and paste: http://clevertitlehere.blogspot.com
