Sunday Prayer

Another prayer from the reverendmother archives... blessings to Sue (Inner Dorothy) as she finishes her work with the General Council.

Secure our steps, O God—
on rough terrain,
on shifting sands,
on fine, wide roads,
on narrow paths.
Make our footsteps firm.

Secure our steps, O God—
in the boardroom,
at the water cooler,
in the school yard,
in the checkout line.
Make our footsteps firm.

Secure our steps, O God—
chasing after deadlines,
trailing after toddlers,
scrambling toward the finish line,
clamoring for security.
Make our footsteps firm.

Secure our steps, O God—
pacing through hospitals,
wandering through the hurt,
tripping over the unforeseen,
meandering through the grief.
Make our footsteps firm.
Amen.

  3. Amen. Especially the part about tripping over the unforseen and then meandering through the grief. My husband was fired from his job on Friday and we are gonna be in a world of hurt if we don't get something figured out quick, so please pray for us.

  4. Afternoon all,
I used your prayer for the prayer time with some of my own thoughts.
    So grateful for this prayer.

    Erin,
I am doubly praying for you and your hubby.

  6. I like this. I'm never good at anything resembling originality in prayers, and am in awe at those who are.

  7. Amen. For Erin, and for all those who are in difficult times of transition, amen.
