Parishioners pushing for carols before you digested your turkey?
Organist refusing to play Advent hymns because he/she already has them planned for Lessons & Carols?
Find yourself reading Luke and thinking of a variety of ways to tell Linus where to stick it? (Lights please.)
Then this quick and easy Friday Five is for you! And for those of you with a more positive attitude, have no fear. I am sure more sacred and reverent Friday Fives will follow.
Please tell us your least favorite/most annoying seasonal....
1) dessert/cookie/family food
2) beverage (seasonal beer, eggnog w/ way too much egg and not enough nog, etc...)
3) tradition (church, family, other)
4) decoration
5) gift (received or given)
BONUS: SONG/CD that makes you want to tell the elves where to stick it.
I know, I know.... pretty grumpy for November but why not get it out of our systems now so we are free to enjoy the rest of the festivities.

ReplyDeleteHere's my play.
(And wow did I need to vent a bit!) :P
My guess (hope) is that some of our favorite things and the blessings of this time of year will be the subject of future December FF's.
ReplyDeleteThis was so much fun! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the chance to cleanse the emotion before I preach and preside this Sunday (first time at my field ed church!)

ReplyDeleteAnd my snarly FF is over here, too.

ReplyDeleteOh, yes!
ReplyDeleteI played here.
I don't usually enter full "bah humbug" mode until about mid-December, but I did play at my place.
ReplyDeleteHee hee - a funny one this week! I haven't played in AGES, but I had to take part this time. Of course, I can never manage to be completely grumpy, so I balanced each one with my most favorite, too.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Hedwyg
How cleansing! I enjoyed the opportunity to confess!
ReplyDeleteMy My Friday Five Grump is here. Even if I don't feel particularly grumpy today.
ReplyDeletelate but hey at least i'm not eating tinsel

Bah Humbug
Bah Hum Bug!!! I reluctantly played here. This year I had decided to change from being the grump that I usually am on the holidays.
ReplyDeleteI grumped about these five things here. And then I talked about what I like.
ReplyDeleteWOW, is this a record or what? Kudos to you, Will Smama! I can't remember whose I read and whose I haven't so far, but it's going to be lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteI've played: http://www.clevertitle.net/?p=138
ReplyDeleteIn case anyone reads down the list of comments this far, here are my answers.
ReplyDeleteThis was actually a joint effort with Listing Straight and Songbird. LS came up with the topics, SB reminded me that I should probably be irreverent because our more regular FF's were most likely going to hit the more traditional holiday themes.
ReplyDeleteI drank the wine and wrote it. Hey someone has to do the dirty work.
OK, all you grouchy people, you clearly need some inspiration. Come back over to my place again and Feel the Love.
ReplyDeleteDrank the wine or the kool-aid WS?
ReplyDeleteI loved this one !
ReplyDeleteThis was just too fun. I played here.
ReplyDeleteInterestingly...we do need to let it out sometimes. Great topic!
ReplyDeleteSo my un-favourites are here
This one was
ReplyDeletesatisfying
Isn't interesting that so many played? WS, I think you struck a nerve. I read many of them and many of them are the same ones I have so I have nothing more to contribute except that I hate putting up a Christmas tree. It was the subject of too many fights while growing up.
ReplyDeleteI played. I'll likely get fired. Boy, I wish that I was one of those anonymous pastors. Ah well!
ReplyDeleteHere you go.
I played here rather grumpily, if I do say so myself.
ReplyDeleteThanks WS for this opportunity to vent.
I wrote on this, but I didn't quite play. www.foraseason.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI played here
ReplyDeleteWhistle the Cat
Wow, a lot of people played this one. I played here. Check out the link to the "Secret Santa Solution."
ReplyDeleteThanks, Will smama. This was fun.
I can't believe I'm the only one to nominate "Santa Claus Lane." Didn't anyone else have to suffer through Hilary Duff? my five is here
ReplyDeleteHere we come a .... The rest is here.
ReplyDeleteI was rather laconic, but I did play.
ReplyDeleteMe Me Me, I wanted to play this one
ReplyDeleteeven if I am late.
Bah Humbug to the tacky Christmas stuff.
Yes, I'm way behind schedule; but my Seasonal Grinching is up and done.
ReplyDeleteGuess that makes me ready for Advent!
