Books books books ...
This month (in fact this very Monday, December 10) we will be discussing Madeleine L'Engle's Wintersong: Christmas Readings - we hope you will take the opportunity to participate in the discussion, even if you haven't read the book, drop in and say hello! Join us!
Upcoming books include:
January 28 - LISTENING FOR GOD: A Minister's Journey Through Silence and Doubt by Renita Weems
February 25 - We have a book AND a DVD - you may choose one or both for the discussion. The book selected it An Infinity of Little Hours: Five Young Men and Their Trial of Faith in the Western World's Most Austere Monastic Order by Nancy Klein McClure
The DVD is Into Great Silence (Two-Disc Set) - if you have not seen this DVD - it's like nothing you have ever seen, I promise! I can't promise it is available at your local video rental store, but you might be able to locate it on an online rental program if you don't wish to purchase it.
And don't forget, if you are doing any shopping through Amazon, please consider using the link on the sidebar - no matter what you order, we will benefit from your purchase.
thanks Cathy for the updates :)
ReplyDeleteordered January's book (secondhand) - it's coming from the USA so it's touch and go whether it gets here in time but it looks interesting anyway. (I didn't order through RevGals though as the postage from amazon.co.uk for second hand is much cheaper to Finland)
I have the L'engle book but need to find it ... it wasn't what I expected when I got it - so put it aside for later - but I have a free day today so will dip into it.
Blessed Monday everyone :)
Wow, what a wonderful challenge for all of us in reading and viewing. I have the Into Great Silence, I now will have to set a date to view it.
ReplyDeleteFor anyone who, like me, has joined Netflix to avoid the collection of numerous DVDs, I just learned that Into Great Silence is not only available on Netflix, but is also available in the Watch Instantly mode. Although watching a film on computer isn't my favorite method, this might be useful for some people (and even for me). The ability to watch instantly is part of your subscription (that is, no extra charge -- which I also just found out.) I ordered the L'Engle and Weems books, one used, one new.
