You are invited to join the author, Sara Miles; as we discuss her book Take This Bread this next Monday, the 19th. Read the book and bring your questions. It looks to be an interesting time. Sara invites your emails and questions to get the conversation going, here is her email address; sara@saramiles.net.
Raised as an atheist, Sara Miles lived an enthusiastically secular life as a restaurant cook and writer. Early one morning she ambled into St. Gregory of Nyssa Episcopal Church on Potrero Hill, took Communion and her life changed. That day Miles found both God and her life's mission: feeding the hungry.
If you haven't purchased the book already, you can do so by going to the sidebar under the heading "The Featured Book discussion for May" and clicking the icon "buy from Amazon.com." You will be helping revgalblogpals as we receives a small percentage of your purchase price, also.

Read the book, everyone! It was an absolute highlight for me, and I recommend it over and over and over. Sara gives me hope that somehow, if I keep putting one foot in front of the other, following my hungers to places of lasting sustenance, I will somehow be doing God's work. I'm excited for this exchange with her!
ReplyDeleteI just started this today, and could barely put it down to go back to church for meetings tonight. Great choice!
ReplyDeleteI bought the book on Friday and have been "rationing" myself to a little bit each day to make it last longer. It's really good so far.
ReplyDeletereading it as we speak.- for once I might be able to contribute to the discussion.
ReplyDeletethanks for arranging it - and for your willingness to lead it Abi.
Waiting on Amazon.....dum dee dum dee dum.....I keep reading the books, but missing the discussions. Hoping to make this one. I am becoming increasingly convinced that doctrine matters less and less, and justice and compassion matter more and more. How to reflect that in my day to day work and ministry, and in church life, is something about which I could use some clarity. This book looks to be helpful.
ReplyDeleteI've stayed up late two nights to read; it's hard to put this book down. Looking forward to the discussion.
ReplyDeleteI've got it and reading is underway!
ReplyDeleteWow such awesome comment already. I hope you all convince others to read the book.
ReplyDeleteMine should arrive tomorrow, just in time for my day off. Maybe I can get the sermon thought out *before* I start to read. Maybe it will inspire the sermon!
