Sunday Afternoon Video - Crown Him with Many Crowns

For our last Sunday video of the Christian year, I offer this arrangement of Diane Bish's arrangement of Crown Him with many Crowns, accompanying the Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church's Chancel Choir.

We sang this hymn as our choir processed at the end of the service. I can promise you our congregation singing of this was not as fancy or embellished, but it came from our heart.
What came from your heart today during worship? What were some of the hymns you sang?

  1. We sang three hymns written by Jane Parker Huber. She died a week ago Saturday. The hymns fit quite well with both Thanksgiving and Reign of Love Sunday:

O God of Earth and Space,
God You Spin the Whirling Planets,
    and
O God of Earth and Altar.

  2. I am not familiar with those hymns, but they sound interesting! Sounds like the one in our hymnal -- Earth and all stars.

  3. We had Youth Sunday today, and the theme was "live it" (discipleship). So at the traditional services we sang "Today We All Are Called To Be Disciples", "The Canticle of the Turning" and "Will You Come And Follow Me." It was a good morning!

Tonight we are hosting the Interfaith Thanksgiving Service, with participants from Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Baha'i, Hindu, Unitarian, and Christian communities. The only congregational song will be A Song of Peace (to Finlandia--"this is my song, O God of all the nations..."). I'm very excited about that! We're also having a Hindu drummer, our choir is singing the Prayer of St. Francis, and there's a buddhist monk chanting prayers and a muslim chanting the Koran and a rabbi singing a psalm. So fun!

  5. I know this was sung yesterday, but I was not at church; I was putting my home office back together after new flooring installed.

I sang it by myself, complete with hymnal so I could remember all the verses! Then I sang the descant by myself too. :)

I know that at church they also had a solo of "Ride on King Jesus" as the offertory. I hate that I missed it!!!

  6. We had "Soon and Very Soon" that notched together seamlessly and beautifully with the Taize "Jesus Remember Me" during communion. We sang "Crown Him..." as well...pretty sure the rafters were dusted with the breath power behind it-- superb.
