Wednesday Festival: Thank You

If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is
thank you, it will be enough.
- Meister Eckhart

Lucky Fresh wrote a three-part series on the fuzzy line between religion and superstition at Halloween. It's here: Part One, Part Two, Part Three.

Jan nominates the wonderful Masai Creed.

Sally shares a poem written as a tribute to a friend, and a passionate rant on church and who/what we are called to be.
And MaineCelt comes in under the wire: "I know it's a bit late to nominate a post for this week's fest, but I worked until 8 PM and then spent four hours at town hall as a ballot counter!
Come see how we "rocked the Big House" with a subversive funeral!"

What have you been writing and thinking these days? Let us know in the comments!

And hey -THANKS for all the nominations this week! Due to the low number lately, your RG website management team has been considering doing away with the nomination method and just posting a thought for the day, with encouragement for folks to post their own links to the comments.
Please share in the comments your thoughts on this...what would you prefer? (Remember, if you vote to keep it this way, you have to nominate! It's easy, just send an email to wednesdayfestival@gmail.com and include a description of the post and a URL.)

  1. Keep the festival please and I promise to nominate--have been blogging and reading a lot more in the last couple weeks after a bit of a hiatus.

  3. I have a request over at Search the Sea for resources for grieving children and teenagers ~ I would really appreciate advice and suggestions.

  4. I'm sorry; that request was not clear at all. I am looking for resources for young people and teenagers grieving the sudden and violent deaths of close friends. Also, I am under the impression that there is a church whose leadership is going to need help and ,and I know that some of you have dealt with violence and death in your congregations, so if you could weigh in . . .

  5. I also love the festival model with nominations; I promise to nominate more, too!

  6. Oh, could the simple instructions for linking in a comment which appear in each week's Friday Five please also be included in the Wednesday posts, whatever their eventual form takes? That makes it much easier to visit folks who aren't featured in the main post.

  7. I would nominate more, but with a private blog, many will click on the link and not be allowed in. I've asked on several occasions for RevGals and Pals to write if they want an invite, and a few have, but I still hesitate to play Friday Five, or post here on Wednesday for that reason. Not sure how to remedy that except to go public again, which isn't out of the question...

Also, I'm wondering who is in charge of book study planning? I have a book that I would gladly lead in a book study. It's called "The Gargoyle" by Andrew Davidson" and it's wonderfully theological on so many levels. A bit gruesome at times (it's about a burn victim) but the themes of forgiveness, redemption and sacredness weave through the whole story. Just let me know and I'll address it with the person who decides those things....

  8. Hi, Sue. The books are suggested by anyone who's interested, and I run them by the Contributors group. I have some other books to suggest for the beginning of next year, and I will be glad to put that one on the list. Thanks!

  9. I haven't been able to read the blogs so much recently

I like the round up and nominations but as MB said it depends on our sending in the nominations (not only from our own blog but the blogs we read around the ring and enjoy) ... I wonder why we aren't doing that so much right now?

If we did change the system I would be happy to post a thought of the week on a regular basis as from Jan if there is still a need. Let me know

  10. thanks all for weighing in!

We'll keep with the current Weds. system through the end of year and re-evaluate then.

    Cheers!!
