Friday Five: Storms of Life Edition

I'm listening this morning for word of Hurricane Earl. Is he coming to visit, or will he bypass my part of Maine and move further Downeast, or veer toward Nova Scotia? Should I buy those bottles of water, just in case wind brings branches and power lines down? And how many times will the tracking map change today?

Herewith, a Friday Five about the storms of life:

1) What's the most common kind of storm in your neck of the woods?

2) When was the last time you dealt with a significant power outage?

3) Are you prepared for the next one?

4) What's the weather forecast where you are this weekend?

5) How do you calm your personal storms?

If you play the Friday Five at your blog and would like visitors, be sure to share a link here, using the following formulation:

  7. While our forecast is full of sun, I'm thinking of Stormy Weather.

Are Texas Sheet Cakes, aka Hurricane Solidarity Cakes, only for Gulf Coast storms or should I be digging out the flour and sugar and powdered sugar and chocolate?

  8. Barnstorms, brainstorms, and tempests in teapots all came to mind...but didn't make it in to the final posting.

  9. I have to admit that I am glad Earl is heading into the cold water of the NE, so the storm is not growing as it would in the Gulf of Mexico!

    Here is my Friday Five.

  10. It's not storming here -- but it's really, really cold. My mind has already transitioned from sweetcorn and watermelon to pumpkins and apple cider. I talked about stormy stuff here .
