Wednesday Festival for Mid-Advent

Many of us have had trees decorated, outside lights shining, and Advent calendars on track for over two weeks.  Others of us are just waking up to the need to get in gear -- although our churches, we hope (!), are well into the season.

For your reading pleasure, a bit of mid-Advent pondering:.

Color, light, poetry, all at Contemplative Photography . . .

and also at Sally's Eternal Echoes.

Liz of journalling writes a beautiful reflection on a Quiet Christmas Service, one of the ways so many of us try to serve those who are not merry this time of year.

You might want to do some pondering of your own with one of more of the journaling prompts Jan has posted at Yearning for God.

Looking for gifts?  Ideas for the church children's  library?  Living word by word offers a list of great Christmas books for kids .

And finally, although they aren't RevGals (is there a rule about that?), the Jesuits of the Missouri Province have published an Advent examen webpage that combines the daily examen of consciousness with the O Antiphons.  I'm finding it to be a rich experience of prayer.

I hope that as we are racing from sanctuary to hospital to Christmas play to music consultation, we are all able to find a few moments to read, to look, and to open ourselves to the baby who is on the way.

  1. Robin, thank you so much for the mention. A nice wee surprise on a day when my feet are dragging. Loved touring the other sites too. X
