A suggestion

Here's a suggestion. I am working on the Advent Devotional Book. We have 5 devotions submitted and formatted (a tenth -- yeah!) I still need perhaps 7 more people to write devotionals. I will post the document of who is doing what when I get home much much later tonight.

How about we use the proceeds of the book (scant as they may be) to either 1) donate to Red Cross for Hurricane Relief or 2) donate to St. Casserole's church to help with rebuilding and renovations?

What are your thoughtS?

p.s. If you can finish your devotional ASAP, we can get it to press faster and thus to Amazon faster so that we can sell more books and make more money.... Just a thought.

  1. I like it and will support either one with my favorite being St. Casserole's church. Are there other churches represented in the ring that have been affected?

  2. Great idea! I love the idea of helping a church rebuild with the proceeds.

  4. I like the idea of helping St. C's church and if there are any other churches represented in the blogring that need rebuilding because of the hurricane, they can be added also.

  5. Perhaps we could set a deadline--that might be helpful for we NFPs.

    Thanks!

  6. A big "me, too," to Emily's suggestion! Have we actually heard anything about the condition of St. Casserole's church?

  7. Whoops, that's me, Songbird. I'm at work.

  8. Her church is OK, and all of her members are fine, although many evacuated all over the place.

But I think it's a great idea. I'm an NFJ but am busy enough that I still would like a deadline!

  9. Yes to St. Cass's church, and perhaps QG's as they reach out to refugees in Houston??

  10. I like the concrete-ness of sending it to St. Casserole. And the concrete-ness of a deadline. Concrete everywhere!

  11. What's reasonable? It will take only a week to get the finished product to press -- then it's a week to get it to appear on Amazon, but it could take more than that to get the picture to appear on Amazon.

It takes me about an hour per devotional to dither with it so that it looks OK. How about September 22?

  12. I also very much like the idea of donating to St. C's church. And thanks for the deadline. (I need deadlines!)

  13. Okay, that's a deal. If you need someone to write two, give me another date.

  14. My vote go to St. C's church as well. Is there any way that the devotionals that are already written could be shared with us so that we know what we're aiming for? I'm still scratching my brain on this one...

  15. ST C's ofcourse. We make this personal. :) they can use the money in many ways to rebuild the church and the community.

if she has a photo of the church it would be good to put it there.

You've worked very hard and we thank you so much for doing this.

I just sent an email to my pastor friend Mia - she mgiht be happy to contribute one date. Will keep you informed. They'd also buy and sell copies which would be great here in Finland .... :)

be blessed all of you. Can't comment on halo blogs now, so you can all breathe right now!! LOL

  16. Since St. Casserole has asked us to look after someone else, I'm wondering about helping a clergyperson rebuild his/her library. If there is no Rev Gal, surely there is a Pal? I know David of Much Nothing about Ado is a friend of Jane Ellen's.

  17. erm ---

I'm all for helping a clergy person to re-build his /her library, but I wonder if this is the best option.

Not that I can suggest an alternative right now.

    thinking though :)
