Cover and Back of Advent Devotional

The cover:

A Light Blazes in the Darkness: Advent Reflections from an Intentional Online Community
Written by members of the RevGalBlogPals Webring
Edited by Theresa Coleman and Mary Beth Butler
Foreword by Gordon Atkinson of RealLivePreacher.com

The back:

The RevGalBlogPals webring homepage is found at http://revgalblogpals.blogspot.com. We represent a diverse group of people -- women ministers, with or without children, discerning women and other clergypersons -- and friends. The webring is an Open Table -- anyone can join but it is especially for clergywomen who maintain a weblog and their friends and acquaintances who blog as well. The main webpage forms us as an intentional community. We laugh, pray and grow together as clergy, as christians and as women.

  1. It looks great. I think the Latin will especially let people know that you have to be VERY intentional in order to join this community. :)

  4. loved the quotes :)

one thing, and I might be wrong in this ... but wonder if you could actually mention either Katrina or that it's the gulf coast of the USA where the proceeds will be used to help

it's just that it might not be 100% clear to those outside of the USA (eg there were bad hurricane /typhoons elsewhere around the time of Katrina which maybe didn't get as much news coverage )

just a thought - hope I'm not nitpicking - someone back here is bound to ask or comment.

Thank you for all your hard work :)

  7. It's awesome, and I'm so honored to be a part of it.

The Latin: I'm flashing back to Latin IV, with Sister Rosina. Scary.

(Taking a deep breath) You may use my real name, Mary Brennan Thorpe. I guess this means I have to limit my snarkier comments...

  8. Eeek...I'm coming in late to this, and am really conscious that you probably hope it's all tidy and sorted now...but if it's not too late, something odd seems to have happened at the end of my second entry...p73
After the final quote from the passage (in italics at the bottom of the page) my original text reads

Not understood. That Word which is life and light is so utterly different from the darkness that the darkness cannot even grasp what it is about…Nor will it ever understand…and since it cannot grasp the nature of the Light, it will never be able to extinguish it. John’s Prologue is the prologue to our story, our encounter with the living Word.
John got the message, but he was only one in a chain of people through the ages who have seen and recognised “the glory of the One and Only…full of grace and truth”.
it may be that this is deliberate editing, in which case, fine...though I'm not sure that the new last sentence on p73 makes sense...but if not, hope this sorts things out.

    My original prayer ran
"God of Grace and Glory, we thank you for your longing to relate to us. Open our eyes to your transforming presence among us, and the moments when the ordinary and the eternal touch. Prepare us, your children, for that day when the whole world shines with your grace and truth, made visible in the face of Jesus Christ our Lord."

So sorry to be difficult...and won't worry hugely if nothing can be done..but there it is. Sorry I was away at the crucial moments too.
    K xx
