Sunday Prayer

God of all seasons, God of all times, I know you hear this and all our prayers. I feel your nearness on quiet nights when the stars shine and the moon reflects on the water. And I feel your presence in unexpected moments of pure grace. God, there have been times when I've known you only by your apparent absence; when troubles and sorrows clouded my soul's perspective. Even then, I knew that the emptiness I felt could only be filled by the Mystery of You.

This time of the year brings a feeling of freshness, a sense of beginning again. Refresh my soul, dear God. Return me to the disciplines that strengthen my faith and enrich my life. When I become weary, don't let me give in to my hard-wired feelings of inadequacy....remind me that it is in weakness that we find our true strength in you. When I become overwhelmed by the busy-ness of life, remind me that no one, least of all you, has asked me to go through this life and this ministry alone. Nudge me to draw upon the blessings around me for help and support. And always lead me toward greater service in Jesus' name.

Gracious God, as this season turns, I give you thanks and praise for the gift of each day. Help me to make the most of this day, and every day. Amen.
