Friday Five: Civic Duties

It's that season of the year when lawn signs are sprouting as surely as flowers in the spring; elections are just around the corner. And so today we bring you a Civic Duty Friday Five.

1) How old were you when you voted for the first time?

2) What was the contest at the top of the ballot?

3) Can you walk to your polling place?

4) Have you ever run for public office?

5) Have you run for office in a club or school or on a board?

As always, let us know if you played, and a big group hug for all those who link directly:
what you want the link to say

*****************************************************************************
I hope this will serve as a reminder of our upcoming RevGalBlogPals, Inc. elections. If you would like to participate in the formation of our non-profit board, please read more about it here. And we promise you faithfully, NO HANGING CHADS!!!!

  1. My comments were lame but honest. I'm looking forward to see what others put forth/admit.

  6. Here's this morning's update on our nominations for the board:

Songbird, Mary Beth, Quotidian Grace, Reverendmommy, Cheesehead, Cathy (of Cathy Knits), Will Smama, St. Cassarole and Katherine (of Any Day a Beautiful Change).

Thanks to each of you for stepping forward! And thanks to those of you who emailed us offering to serve in other ways once the board is elected.

As Songbird said, nominations will be open through next Friday, October 13, so email us if you are interested.

  8. Question for those who have cleverly made their names into links to their blogs--how are you doing it?

  10. Songbird--

To make your name into the link, all you need to do is paste your name into the place where it says "what you want the link to say".

    Cheers!

  11. Thanks, Sara, I know how to do it in a comment, but some people are making it happen in the "name" box.

  14. Songbird,
When I sign in, I click "other" and sign my name and then my web page.
Lots easier than the other - and I know some html. Just to know there is more than one way to skin a cat.

  19. I would have played, but it would have been such a boring response on my part that you would have all clicked out after an anwer or two. :-)

  20. I vote that it doesn't matter that you play on Friday, Saturday or Sunday but they you play.

Wow look at us voting revgals of the world unite. Perhaps we can begin to influence things. Of course you have to watch out for how you say things or the IRS will watch if for you.

Songbird, I love your post here with the cartoon. Great job. Where in the world did you find a cartoon on hanging chads to use? The cartoon makes it even more fun to play.
