Wednesday Festival: OctoberFest

Don't miss the important posts below and above about elections, membership dues, and The Big Event!

Greetings! It's beginning to be a little fall-y here and I look forward to one of my hallmarks of fall, St. Francis Day (this Thursday). I've been writing about my former parish whose patron was this gentle saint.

Here's a request from RevAnne: "I am working on a DMin in postmodern ministry and need a little help with a project this semester. I would love for RevGalBlogPals friends to visit my pm blog, Any Way You Slice It, and let me know of web churches or other groups with a strong online presence that they know of. They can leave comments here.

Kievas Fargo is starting a new Musical Mondays series on his blog. This week is about busy work weeks and taking a break to connect with God.

1-4 Grace has a great picture of the new little one at her house, and a question (at the end) for you all to answer!

ReverendMommy says, "I'm purging more stuff this week -- and offering "Love Packages" of
books and assorted to (almost) anyone who wants to send me their real mail addy in exchange for a return package or donation. Mindy gets the first one." Go on over to her place and sign up for a goody bag!

Also, her older daughter Chaos played with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra this weekend -- go see the pictures and stop by again soon to see the videos.

CPClergymama wrote about a church burial ... as in, burying the church. Go see what you think and let her know.

Gord shares a memory of budding romance at...wait for it...a presbytery meeting. Way too cute a story. She sounds like a sharp lady, that one! With three little princesses, the two of them may be on their way to a senior moment or two. But, Gord? It's all about the company you're in...whether you can remember anything about it or not.

Over at LutheranChik's place, www.lutheranchiklworddiary.blogspot.com readers can find out how she could have graduated from her lay ministry program without knowing it...can learn why (OUCH!) she hates housework even more than usual...and can link to a really cool resource for a self-directed retreat that she's reworking into a partners' retreat.

Wishing you all a lovely October day...

  1. I freak out a little bit here about balancing my ministry with having a child.

  2. I'm getting a lot of comments (both off and on the blog) for an essay I wrote in response to the House of Bishops meeting last week. It's about how if you try to watch growth and certain movements happening, you'll never see them. If you know someone who is struggling with faith or their presence in church when they feel like they or the church is stagnating, it may be a helpful reflection.

It's here if you want to check it out.

  5. Anyone hear from Rev Abi about how last Sunday went for her? I wish I could post the question directly to her blog, but based on what she commented Saturday, I am reluctant to do that.

  9. Last month I
wrote about grace, bodies, and intrusions on one's soul. Oh, and Anne Lamott. It's a hard post, but I think it's a good one. I hope it's useful to someone out there.
