Good afternoon,
It's Juniper, stepping into (and hopefully not on) the shoes of our regular Lectionary Leanings folk today.
Personally, I'm deep into a series on Revelation and going that direction this week. Although some people have expressed disappointment that we are just blowing past all the exciting parts that the lectionary skips in chapters 7-20, I'm looking forward to exploring the idea of God coming to earth to dwell (or to tabernacle? who knew THAT was verb?) with us.
But in reviewing the other readings, I'm wishing I was doing a series on Acts instead. Peter's vision! So much wonderfulness.
Or, perhaps you will focus on John's beautiful commandment from Jesus to love one another. And if so, are you singing the old camp favorite?
Whatever you are up to this week, let us know in the comments. You can find links to all the Easter 5C texts here.
A member of my church (a therapist) has shared with me that April is addiction awareness month, so I am going to be talking about addiction this Sunday. And what it means when we live as if God dwells in us all the time!
ReplyDeleteI'm in Acts, and we are celebrating the ministry we have done through our homeless shelter (which closes for the summer this week). AND we're singing "They'll Know We Are Christians..." !! I'm working on the All-Are-Welcome theme and working in the ways we offer hospitality. Or something like that!
ReplyDelete"They'll Know We Are Christians" at our place too.
DeletePreaching Psalm 148 and celebrating Earth Day on the 28th. I was on vacation and kept my eye open for earth friendly practices and came home with several. Wishing we had technology in our sanctuary so I could show awesome pictures...or play John Rutter's "For the Beauty of the Earth" video.
ReplyDeleteWe are in Acts. I'm enjoying exploring the early church's adventures. We're singing another camp fav. Wide wide as the ocean. Preaching inclusion ahead of our GA where that will be put to the test!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stepping in Juniper! I really appreciate it!
