Friday Five: RevGal Version

First, five fresh and random posts from around the Ring:

1) reverendmother shares about running into a group of preschool moms and feeling intimidated; don't worry, rm, not fitting in to any group is just one of the joys of being a clergyperson.

2) mibi52 takes a trip into her history with the wonderful story of Cassoulet; that sounds like a good main course for us if we ever have a RevGalBlogPals retreat!

3) willsmama is not the first or the last to take the quiz, but I'm not surprised to hear that she is Snoopy! (I'm a Charlie Brown myself.)

4) Steph introduces us to Bruno and Elmer, those little-known 1st century bouncers, in a post about the sacraments.

5) Meanwhile, across The Pond, Katherine is celebrating National Poetry Day.

Second, A RevGalBlogPals Friday Five, five questions to answer if you're looking for something to post today:

1) What is your earliest memory of church?

2) How old were you when you first took Communion?

3) What is your favorite Bible verse/passage?

4) What verse/passage nicks you uncomfortably?

5) What's your favorite hymn or praise song? (Please tell me it's not "Shine, Jesus, Shine." Some of our members will cry.)

Happy Friday, all!

  1. reverend mother,
That is why I am _so_ very grateful for this group. Finally, a group where we odd clergy-mom types fit in.

  4. I'm not a clergy woman, but I definitely relate to not fitting in with the preschool moms (and now the kindergarden moms). And where I work: Everybody homeschools here. Moms don't work. Sigh.

  5. and here no-one homeschools, every child goes to school and almost all women work. Here I am only one day a week paid employment in school, and no time at all for myself lol ...

as a foreigner here I always thought that was the main reason for feeling that I didnt' fit in - but like Rev Mom I'm grateful for RevGals - it's been such a life-saver at times.... though my insecurities flare up even here :(

    there's honesty for you!

    be blessed :(

PS great questions songbird I'll answer them over in stf in due course.
time for bed - exhausted after all that cleaning - ROFL

  6. No, it's
"Lord I lift your name on high-h-h-h-h" with appropriate hand gestures.

  7. I just came from a conference where we started each worship service with "Sanctuary."

I *needed* sanctuary by the end of four days. Just can't handle the songs where the first person singular pronoun is the most commonly occuring word.

    But that's just me...

  10. I choose to protest the idea that I could only choose one favourite hymn. SO I chose three (with the caveat that there are many more).

  12. So. I just spent the last hour (on a Saturday morning) looking for an blog post about Sunday morning confirmation class and whether or not to let your child go to a Saturday night sleepover. Of course it is the perfect sermon example for tomorrow's sermon. I remember reading it and how wonderful it was. 1 hour reading every blog and doing google searches.

So. It is in the Christian Century that I also read yesterday.

D'oh. God save me from myself.

I hope that y'all are all having a good weekend- thank you for these round ups.
