RevGal Friday Five: Words

In honor of NotShyChiRev, who told us at breakfast yesterday he was a voracious reader as a child and learned many words he never heard spoken aloud (and how many of us can say, “Amen, brother!”):

Please tell us five words you had to think about really hard before saying them out loud for the first time, or that you discovered you had misapprehended when someone corrected your pronunciation.

As always let us know in the comments if you play!

Yours,
Songbird and St. Casserole

  1. Hmm.
This is my question, but I'm having trouble coming up with five.

Let's start with gamut, which I heard in my mind as guh-MUTT. "It ran the guh-MUTT."

I'll get ack to you when I remember a few more.

  3. I can't think of any such words, but I do like the new template. It is better to be a little more compact, too, with our blog list since we are becoming so many!

  4. Songbird-

Stick this in the template in the post footer- <$BlogItemAuthor$> - That should make it post which of you wrote the post. I hope.

  10. Mark, Siobhan is pronounced "Shev-aun" with the accent on the seond syllable (I'm Irish).

I could only come up with one, but it's in my blog for today (Whine & Cheese). I know there are more, but those brain cells aren't functioning right now. Must be too many cleaning products...
