Today begins the liturgical season of Lent, a time of self-examination, penitence, and prayer. Please feel free to share about your observations of the day and the season in the comments.

  3. I am reading the daily office of Morning Prayer (Episcopal), a Lenten discipline I began last year. You may find it here

Also, I wanted to share that my church has a really nice Virtual Stations of the Cross site here, and you are very welcome to visit.

A blessed and holy Lent to all...

  7. I found myself quite taken by Abby of the Arts' reflections on Ash Wednesday; and one of the things I would like to do this year is move away from a "penal" Lent -- the spiritual equivalent of standing at a blackboard writing "I will not ____________" 500 times -- and entering into that whole-hearted honesty and openness to transformation that she speaks about on her blog.

  8. You can read a little more here, but essentially I will be going through Julia Cameron's book The Artist's Way and doing the morning pages as a means of prayer/meditation/clearing the gunk out of my head.

  12. It was so good to read what people are doing for Lent this evening.

I'm praying my extremely-inclusive Office and making time for fun reading as well. More on my Ash Wednesday post here.

  15. I posted an Ash-y editation last night. CLick my name to go to my blog

  16. Ok that should be a meditation, not editation.

I wonder what an editation would be though??????

  17. Would it be making changes (i.e. editing) to a meditation and showing them through strikethroughs, etc.?
