Friday Five: Holy Week, Batman!

Well, the Clergy Superbowl is almost upon us, and so, I offer up this Friday Five (with apologies for the irreverent title):

1. Will this Sunday be Palms only, Passion only, or hyphenated?

2. Maundy Thursday Footwashing: Discuss.

3. Share a particularly meaningful Good Friday worship experience.

4. Easter Sunrise Services--choose one:
a) "Resurrection tradition par excellence!"
b) "Eh. As long as it's sunrise with coffee, I can live with it."
c) "[Yawn] Can't Jesus stay in the tomb just five more minutes, Mom?!?"

5. Complete this sentence: It just isn't Easter without...

Bonus: Any Easter Vigil aficionados out there? Please share.

Please let us know in comments if you play. Or even better, post a direct link to your blog entry in your comment using the following formulation:
what you want the link to say goes here
For a complete how-to, click here.

Friday Five will take an appropriate break on Good Friday. See you in Eastertide.

  1. Hey, sorry for playing fast and loose with the space/time continuum, but I won't be able to post this in the morning. And Ask the Matriarch has been up for most of the day.

So, you west coast readers and night owls get a head start!

    here's mine.

  7. Awesome questions, but it's late here and I just posted way long about my hijab-for-a-day, so I'm going to tuck in and do this tomorrow, probably after I get back from the conference sessions cause I can go on at scary length about my Holy Week liturgy preferences/delights/peeves....

  8. and those of us in Europe :) where every Friday begins many hours earlier :)

as for the answers -our church -for the first time ever (in my history anyway)is asking us to bring a green branch on Sunday - for palm Sunday and the theme is 'just what is salvation'

Easter Sunday we each bring a yellow flower to decorate the empty cross to celebrate Jesus' and our resurrection

    No other services at all.

Never been to a sunrise service -would love to though - but this year I'm hoping to go to a midnight easter vigil in a town 45 mins away - they've promised a service in English in the tiny old church downtown - and I'd love to be part of that.

Hoping I can get a lift in someone else's batmobile - or at least have Robin along with me though. 45 mins on the motorway at night each way ... a bit out of my comfort zone ...

sorry not to do the FF on my site but I wrote about this yesterday in a slightly different way ...

  11. I'm theoretically taking a long Lenten/Easter break from blogging. But last year I did a long series on Passover and Easter, and the first passover entry is here.

You can find most of the Easter ones by scolling to the Easter link on my sidebar.

  20. "Will the pastors survive the week? Will it rain buckets and prevent the Vigil from starting outside...again? Will the youth set off the fire alarm during the breakfast? Tune in next Sunday...same Easter time, same Easter place..." I had some fun here.
