it's late, but it's still Friday! Five

We had thunderstorms, three inches of rain and winds of 60+ mph. R shut down and unplugged our computers and network, but we're back online now. Sorry for the delay--I even had the questions done ahead of time! Ah well...

Summer is here with a vengeance. We took the family out to Baskin-Robbins to celebrate. I have a special affection for B-R because it was my first job during high school. People told me I'd get sick of ice cream working there. Puh-leeze.

Without further ado:

1. Ice cream: for warm weather only or a year-round food?

2. Favorite flavor(s)

3. Cake cone, sugar cone, waffle cone, cup?

4. Childhood ice-cream memory

5. Banana splits: discuss.

(Feel free to answer the above based on your favorite frozen yogurt, sorbet, lactose-free, you name it.)

Bonus: Baskin-Robbins used to make ice-cream sodas. During the 18 months I worked there, I think I made about 3 tops. They're no longer on the menu, but you can still order them. Question: What are the ingredients/steps for making an ice cream soda?

As always, let us know if you play. Even better--include a link to your post!

  2. Oh my goodness.
Ice Cream. What a fab idea.
    Now.
    Chocolate.
    With sprinkles.
    In a cup.
    Eaten in the sunshine.
    IMMEDIATELY.

  5. I just posted something else on my blog, so I will just join in the fiver fun here - because I'd hate to be left out of something as important as ice cream!

    1. Year-round, but more during the summer, when the great ice cream place near my house is open, and the dog and I can go and enjoy both ice cream and people-watching.
    2. Chocolate peanut butter - the kind with the big frozen chunks of PB that get creamy as they melt.
    3. Waffle cone, although any form will do.
    4. Scooping ice cream at the store my family owned for a while, one-handed because I had broken my arm, while my youngest brother was being born.
    5. Banana splits: a very tasty thing, but often too large for me to eat.

Please look at #4 especially and help me out... or just commiserate with me knowing that some childhood memories don't always come back. I know there is more to this song.
