Festival of Homiletics

Are you a RevGalBlogPal and planning to attend the Festival of Homiletics next week in Nashville? You'll find you are not alone!

Last year's Festival served as a first meet-up for some of our members, a time we remember fondly.

RevAbi kindly agreed to be the contact person for a RevGalBlogPal meet-up at what we fondly refer to in these parts as the Festival of Homies. For her cellphone contact info, please send her an e-mail as soon as possible!

And if you're not going, have no fear, we will have our own fun together here!!

Right, will smama?

  1. I am all ready. Well, I have to get a sitter for the King of the House. He was a little upset to find that cats are not allowed.
Totally psyched over all the cool folks and the fun times.

  2. I'm slamming my head into my desk now, and muttering words that I would not pronounce from the pulpit.

Who knew it was so reasonably priced? Who knew my hero Walter would be there? Could've stayed with Mom in Clarksville...

    Bugger.

  3. Thanks Will Smama for helping us to keep the home fires burning

All the rest of y'all have a good time at the Festival of Homies --we'll be excited to hear all about it from you

  4. I'm sad not to be going....but excited for the party! :-) I mean, the, umm, week when we all sit around in dark clothes, crossing our legs at the ankles and silently working on embroidery projects (or sermons) while our Smama watches us carefully before sending us to bed at a reasonable hour to be sure we look beautiful for tomorrow's round of embroidery and drawing....

  5. I'm not going either this year, so I'll be helping light the torches.

  6. I was all set to go, but due to circumstances beyond my control I lost childcare for my two little ones that week. Since they are too young to drive a tractor, and since baling hay leaves my farming parents way too tired to chase "Hurricane" and "Tornado," and since the hay is ready NOW - I guess I will just have to sigh wistfully and think of what I am missing. Or go join another fun party!

  7. I'm looking forward to the home party too. Maybe next year!

  8. My head still hurts from last year but I'll see if I can round up Bubbles and the Chippendales.

  9. I'm sooo ready to go! Our first Sunday off in six months! The preachers! The southern cooking! The music - and not just at the worship services, but also the music on Printer's Alley and the Bluebird Cafe!

I do hope that I can keep cool and maintain professional demeanor should I cross paths with BBT herself. I exchanged emails with her four years ago when I was on the planning committee for our senior worship service at seminary and I invited her to preach. She couldn't come, but she declined with as much eloquence as she writes. And the thrill of logging on and finding an email from her was too much. I would so love to meet her in person.

  10. I am envious, once again, of those who will be meeting up at the festival. But meanwhile...WOO HOO, start heating up the hot tub and cooking up culinary delights and sorting through your favorite CDs!

  12. Have just returned from a lunchbreak trip to the Thrift shop downtown.
And, for a grand total of $29 I have two sundresses, a couple of pants outfits and a skirt.
Yes, I am the Thrifty One!

  13. Any news about where it will be in 2008? I need to plan WAAAAY ahead. I will need the party at home next week because I have surgery on Monday, so will be moping around looking for distraction anyway. How much wine can I really mix with pain meds?

  14. The big question is whether or not will smama will be wearing her fancy big girl high heels for the party. Cuz if she is, i'm not going to get so much as a wink from a chippendale.

Maybe another year, in a cheaper town, aw...who am I kidding? I couldn't miss the at home party!

  15. Don't they usually announce the next year's location at the Festival?
But stay tuned, Gals and Pals, because we are beginning to plan an event of our own for 2008...

  27. Minneapolis??? That's practically in my backyard. Ok, it's about an 8 hour drive, but in relative terms, that's so CLOSE. Hurray!!
