RGBP Trivia Challenge - Catch Up Edition

Trivia Challenge has been hoppin' and my spring has flown by and sure enough, I didn't get April's winner posted, and here it is JUNE! So.. folks.. I have a special request. Semfem, who blew us out of the water during the month of April needs some nudging. She seems to think that just because she isn't quite content with her home page, she hasn't joined RGBP ring --- no other reason - nada - so, we need to nudge her to go ahead and JOIN US -- go to her blog page - congratulate her on her April win, and her 2nd place standing in May and then ask her to join RGBP!


And... May's winner is Satchel Pooch -- where is the Pooch? Who is this? Someone let me know who this character is so we can applaud at his/her blog!

January's Trivia Winner!

Zorra is our latest monthly Trivia Challenge Winner. Of the 92 players that participated in the challenge, she was on the top of the heap!

November's Trivia Challenge Winner

It's hard to believe that November past by so quickly and, as of this posting, Happy New Year! A new month means we have a new Trivia Challenge winner and this time it is Frodo, and he has a blog which needs us to go over there and make his site meter go off the charts (and yes, he does have site meter so he WILL know).

This past month, Trivia Challenge has decided to offer virtual prizes and folks, they are good ones. Even Frodo has one - he decided a cheesy snow globe would be a good one (don't worry, I didn't STEAL this - he still has his)

Oh yes, you, too, can have one of these if you play Trivia Challenge and earn a few points. (I might work towards a money tree - but it will be quite some time before I can get my hands on that one).

Trivia Challenge - October's Winner!

It's been quite the month over at RGBP Trivia Challenge - some categories are simply..... humbling. Other categories are so easy that the test of the challenge is over time and not content. However Satchel Pooch is October's winner and a big hip hip hooray goes to her.

Now, if you have never played, you are in for some fun - 10 questions - and the topic changes according to... well.. sometimes it is the Friday 5 that is the inspiration and sometimes it is the season. We learned that the World Series brought in the topic of baseball, but not many of us knew much about that topic.

Interestingly, there is an "awards" section now in Trivia Challenge which are called "Trivia Bucks." For each answer one answers correctly, you get a buck - so now, as I type this, I have enough for a "cheesy award". These are fictitious - but you can "buy" them if you like.

OK - this entire month, we have been in the top 25 quizzes - and sometimes in the top 10. Would it not be oh so cool if we were #1 in the number of participants.

Satchel Pooch gets to choose a favorite topic/category for being number 1 this month. Go raid her comments on her blog and put her site meter to the test. She hangs her hat at a communal type blog - Real Live Pirate - me thinks that though this blog is not an official RGBP blog, I bet that it or some of the members of that blog COULD be a part of the ring. And just perhaps this might be the catalyst for Satchel Pooch to get her a blog started. How 'bout it Satchel?

Trivia Challenge - September's Winner is Dawgdays

It was neck and neck for the top of the heap for September's Trivia Challenge. However, Dawgdays took the #1 spot. And he does have a blog and so we get to go over to his blog and congratulate him!

Perhaps Dawgdays can give us a few tips in the comments as to what his strategy is. He also gets to choose a topic during the month of October!

Do you know.......

• that almost EVERYDAY in September RevGalBlogPals was in the top 100 trivia challenges out of over 5000 active tournaments?
• with the exception of a few topics - and we played some doozies some days, we were usually tops in our average scores compared to other groups that had the same number of players. What can I say - we are smart!
• if you play daily, you increase the chances of having the most points (and in this game, the one with the most TOTAL points at the end of the month wins!)

Now, those of you that play know we have a shoutbox so we can moan and groan or gloat a little... I thought I would share some of the more intellectual excuses comments with you . (Commenter's names have been removed to protect the innocent).

• How is it I do better at science than Bible?
• i have got to get a mouse so i can scroll...Oh POOH! I knew that apostle one. DUH
• oh, bugger. it erased one of my answers
• DawgDays? What are we doing at the bottom? (editorial comment: see, you too can be #1 even if you ARE at the bottom for one of the challenges)
• beat bop is just a type of beat that the 'bop it ' plays

It's fun, it's fast, and we stretch our brains with the trivia.
Would it be oh so cool if we could get enough players to play to be #1? We have enough on the ring to do it!

Trivia Challenge - August's Winner is Alin!

Well, the month of August has passed and our first month of RGBP Trivia Challenge has come to a close. Some folks are lickety split fast and some of us are more like tortoises but the end result is to have fun. This months winner is Alin, who can answer 10 questions in the blink of an eye, and to top it off... she rarely misses any questions. Perhaps she will respond to this post and give us tips on improving our scores... I keep on thinking she must have a huge computer monitor where she doesn't have to scroll down the page.

Go to her blog and CONGRATULATE her for winning this month's tournament - hands down - by number of wins and points accumulated. She gets to choose a topic for this month's trivia challenge.

Anyway, back to this... notice I didn't make it close to being on top AND I played every day. Statistically I had a chance. IN reality, well not so good. So if you want to take advice from someone who didn't make it even close to the best, here it is:

• Play every day - part of the factoring in of who wins is who accumulates the most overall points. It looks at overall wins, points per game and cumulative points.
• The faster you play and the more questions you answer correctly places you closer to the top of the list.
• Most of us have found that go with your first gut answer, it's usually right. Remember, we are playing from a database of questions - none of us gets the same questions in the same order.
• When you check your answers and you find out you have gotten a wrong answer - read up on it - read the information they provide. It seems that if I get one wrong, it's going to dole it out to me again before too long. (I still have to remember to bone up on the difference on a protractor and a compass - I get that wrong every time!).
• When you take the quiz - make sure you inform everyone in your family you DON'T want to be interrupted - you may go hours without anyone talking to you, but as soon as you start taking the quiz, the family needs to urgently talk to you. It's got to be one of Murphy's laws.

Last month's excuses for doing ... not so good...

I haven't had my coffee this morning.
It's WAY too early to be taking this quiz.
My family interrupted me.
Umm. I didn't know this quiz was timed (OK - someone took over 40,000 seconds to take the quiz - now that takes talent!).
